This is a plain-language summary of a binding legal agreement. If anything here is unclear, contact us before you rely on it — see the bottom of this page.

01 About these Terms

Welcome to Local Genie. These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Local Genie mobile applications and this website (together, the "Platform"), operated by Udit Gangwani, a sole proprietor based in Nagpur, Maharashtra, India ("Local Genie", "we", "us", "our"). By creating an account or otherwise using the Platform, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the Platform.

02 Who can use Local Genie

You must be at least 18 years old and capable of entering a binding contract under the Indian Contract Act, 1872 to use Local Genie. By using the Platform, you confirm you meet this requirement.

03 What Local Genie is (and isn't)

Local Genie is a platform that connects customers looking for products or services ("Wishes") with nearby local vendors who may be able to help. When you post a Wish, matching nearby vendors are notified and may respond directly to you through the Platform's chat feature.

Local Genie is a facilitator only. We do not sell, manufacture, deliver, warrant, or take ownership of any product or service exchanged between a customer and a vendor. We are not a party to any agreement, transaction, or sale that results from a Wish, a chat, or a vendor's coupon or offer. Local Genie does not currently process any payments — all transactions, including pricing, payment, delivery, returns, and warranties, are agreed directly and exclusively between the customer and the vendor, outside the Platform.

04 Your account

You register using your mobile number and a one-time password. You're responsible for keeping your account secure and for all activity under it.
You agree to provide accurate information and to keep it up to date.
You may not create an account for anyone but yourself, or operate more than one account for deceptive purposes.
We may suspend or terminate your account if we reasonably believe you've violated these Terms, engaged in fraud, or put other users at risk.

05 Posting Wishes and vendor responses

A Wish should honestly describe what you're looking for. Don't post Wishes for anything illegal, unsafe, or that violates these Terms.
Vendors who respond to your Wish do so at their own discretion. Local Genie does not guarantee that any vendor will respond, that a response will be accurate, or that any transaction will take place.
Vendors are independent businesses, not employees, agents, or representatives of Local Genie. We don't vet, license, or endorse any vendor's products, services, pricing, or business practices, beyond whatever review steps are described in our vendor verification process.

06 Vendor terms

If you register as a vendor:

You confirm that you (or your business) are legally entitled to sell the products or offer the services you list.
Your shop information, photos, categories, and offers must be accurate and must not mislead customers.
You are solely responsible for the products or services you provide — their quality, safety, legality, pricing, and any claims or offers you make about them.
A "Verified" badge or an active subscription shown on your profile reflects steps we've taken to confirm certain details. It is not a guarantee, endorsement, or warranty of your business or its offerings.
You must comply with all applicable laws relevant to your business, including consumer protection, GST, and local trade regulations.

07 Content you share

You retain ownership of the descriptions, photos, and messages you post ("Your Content"), but you grant Local Genie a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, display, translate, and share Your Content as needed to operate the Platform — for example, showing your Wish to nearby vendors, or a shop's offer to nearby customers.

Don't post Content that is illegal, obscene, harassing, infringing, or that you don't have the right to share. We use automated checks and may remove Content, at our discretion, that we believe violates these Terms.

08 Ratings and reviews

Ratings and reviews must reflect a genuine experience. Don't post fake reviews, manipulate ratings, or offer or accept incentives in exchange for a review.

09 Location and notifications

Local Genie uses your device's location to match you with nearby Wishes or vendors, and to send you notifications about relevant activity near you — including when you're near a participating vendor. You can control location and notification permissions from your device settings at any time; some features may not work correctly if you do.

10 Prohibited conduct

You agree not to:

Use the Platform for any illegal purpose, or post Wishes or offers for prohibited or restricted goods and services;
Harass, threaten, impersonate, or defraud any other user;
Attempt to access another user's account, or interfere with the Platform's normal operation, including scraping, reverse-engineering, or introducing malware;
Circumvent, disable, or otherwise interfere with any security feature of the Platform.

11 Third-party services

The Platform relies on trusted third-party service providers to support features such as maps and location, push notifications, and secure data storage. Your use of the Platform may also be subject to those providers' own terms, to the extent they apply to you.

12 Disclaimers

The Platform is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We don't warrant that the Platform will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure, that any Wish will receive a response, or that any transaction between a customer and vendor will be satisfactory. Local Genie is not responsible for the conduct, products, services, or content of any user, including vendors.

13 Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Local Genie and its owner will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Platform or any transaction with a vendor — even if advised of the possibility of such damages. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Platform will not exceed ₹1,000, or the amount (if any) you've paid us in the past 12 months, whichever is greater.

14 Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold Local Genie harmless from any claims, damages, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Platform, your Content, your violation of these Terms, or your dealings with another user.

15 Changes to the Platform and these Terms

We may update, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Platform, and may update these Terms from time to time. We'll make reasonable efforts to notify you of material changes — for example, via the app or a notice on this website. Continued use after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.

16 Termination

You may stop using the Platform and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or if we discontinue the Platform.

17 Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of the Platform will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in Nagpur, Maharashtra.

This explains what personal data Local Genie collects, why, and what rights you have over it. We process personal data in line with India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.

01 About this policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Local Genie ("we", "us", "our"), operated by Udit Gangwani (sole proprietor, Nagpur, Maharashtra, India), collects, uses, shares, and protects your personal information when you use the Local Genie customer and vendor apps and this website (together, the "Platform").

02 Information we collect

Account information: your name, mobile number, and — if you choose to provide it — email address, gender, city, area, and pincode.

Location information: your device's precise location, used to match you with nearby Wishes or vendors, show you nearby deals, and — with your permission — notify you when you're near a participating vendor's shop.

Content you provide: Wish descriptions, photos and other attachments, chat messages, ratings, and reviews.

Vendor information (for vendor accounts): shop name, address, category, business type, photos, GST number if provided, coupons or offers, and related business details.

Device and usage information: a device notification identifier so we can send push notifications, your app language preference, and general usage data that helps us operate and improve the Platform.

We do not currently collect or store any payment, banking, or UPI information. Transactions between customers and vendors happen directly between them, outside the Platform.

03 How we use your information

To operate the Platform's core features — matching your Wish with nearby vendors, letting vendors respond, and enabling chat between you.
To send you notifications relevant to you: wish responses, nearby deals, and account or safety-related updates.
To automatically translate content between English, Hindi, and Marathi, so vendors and customers can understand each other regardless of the language they typed in.
To review content — including using automated checks — for safety, and to keep the Platform free of spam, abuse, and inappropriate material.
To maintain the security of the Platform and investigate misuse.
To improve the Platform based on how it's actually used.

04 Location data, specifically

Because Local Genie is built around connecting you with nearby people and shops, location is central to how it works. We use your location to:

Show you Wishes or vendors near you;
Notify you about deals from vendors near your current location, including while the app is in the background if you've allowed that;
Help vendors understand roughly how far away a customer is.

You can turn location permissions off at any time in your device settings. Doing so may limit or disable features that depend on knowing where you are.

06 Data retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active, and for a reasonable period afterward to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time — see Section 8.

07 Data security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including secure data storage and access controls. No system is completely secure, though, and we can't guarantee absolute security.

08 Your rights

Under applicable Indian data protection law, you have the right to:

Access the personal information we hold about you;
Correct inaccurate or incomplete information;
Withdraw consent you've previously given, where processing is based on consent;
Request erasure of your personal information, subject to our legal and legitimate business retention needs;
Raise a grievance about how we've handled your information.

09 Children's privacy

Local Genie is not intended for anyone under 18. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we'll take appropriate steps to remove it.

10 Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We'll post the updated version here with a new effective date, and where changes are material, we'll make reasonable efforts to let you know through the app.
